KFJ 7 – The Journey – Patience

In this episode, I share thoughts and quotes concerning one of my favorite and not-so-easy life lessons – patience – (cierpliwość).

“Patience is the road to wisdom.” —Kao Kalia Yang. It is not easy to be patient in any way. However, I have learned that it is an amazing feeling after waiting, whether it could be as simple as driving on the road or during personal struggles, or associating with people.

The journey – Patience. I have discovered that there are many ways to practice developing patience. Patience while waiting for something or someone, patience during trials, patience with myself, and patience with others.

“Waiting can be hard. Children know it, and so do adults. We live in a world offering fast food, instant messaging, on-demand movies, and immediate answers to the most trivial or profound questions. We don’t like to wait. Patience—the ability to put our desires on hold for a time—is a precious and rare virtue. We want what we want, and we want it now. Therefore, the very idea of patience may seem unpleasant and, at times, bitter.” – Dieter Uchtdorf

“In each case – Heavenly Father had a purpose in requiring that His children wait.

Every one of us is called to wait in our own way. We wait for answers to prayers. We wait for things that at the time may appear so right and so good to us that we can’t possibly imagine why Heavenly Father would delay the answer.”

Impatience, on the other hand, is a symptom of selfishness. It is a trait of the self-absorbed. It arises from the all-too-prevalent condition called the “center of the universe” syndrome, which leads people to believe that the world revolves around them and that all others are just supporting cast in the grand theater of mortality in which only they have the starring role.

Lyrics & Music

“Cierpliowść

Mam być mądra I pokorna, powinnam słuchać twych rad.
Mam zaufać I być spokojna, Ty uciszysz mego serca płacz.
Tyle pragnień mam codziennie, które chciałabym gotowe brać. Lecz wciąż słyszę – szepczesz spokojnie:
“Zaufaj, bądź cierpliwa, musisz czekać”!
Nie przyspieszę czasu swego,
nie przeskoczę samej siebie,
Choć nie rozumiem jeszcze wszystkiego,
To jedno wiem – muszę czekać cierpliwie.

Ty wiesz jakie jest me serce, Ty znasz dobrze myśli moje.
I choć czasem bywa trudniej, To jedno wiem z ufnością witam Dzień.
Nie przyspieszę czasu swego…

In closing, I play one of my songs in Polish, “Cierpliwość” (Patience)

The translation is

I have to trust and be calm,
Thou will calm my crying heart.
Every day I have so many wishes (desires)
which I could take (I have them now)
But I hear Thou quietly whisper
“Trust, Be patient; you have to wait.

Chorus
I can’t make my time go faster.
I can’t jump “over myself,
even though I don’t understand everything,
One thing I do know, I have to be Patient.

Thou knowest my heart; Thou knowest my thoughts,
Please hold my hand; I am scared to live without Thee.
Thou givest tests and trials, Because Thou lovest me.
With your love, Thou givest suffering,
Teaching me how to live patiently.

Chorus
I am aware that I do not know much
and can not do things by myself,
I only can be lost by myself.
At times sometimes, it is so complicated
The one thing I know,
I can welcome a new day.

I can’t make my time go faster…
